Hôtel du Golf

The views are wonderful, and the restaurant was good. We speak French, so I can’t say whether they speak English, though I’m sure they do. Our friends had been given a double bed when they wanted twins, but staff changed it for them. I’d love to return and play golf. The downside was a group of British male golfers who were loud and coarse. The French aren’t used to people drinking past their limit, so perhaps staff need advice on not serving customers who are drunk. Still, it was an excellent stay.

The scenery around the hotel was lovely and relaxing after a long drive. We stopped for one night near Calais on our way from Switzerland back to England, and were glad we picked this place. The staff welcomed us warmly and were very friendly. Our room was perfectly acceptable and had what we needed for a restful night. Breakfast had a nice range of choices and was very good. A great place to pause on the way to or from Calais.

We had dinner in the clubhouse, and the food was fresh and tasty, better than at a very posh hotel we’d stayed in the night before. Service was excellent too. The grounds and views are stunning, and the bar and breakfast room are beautiful. Our room was comfortable and the bed was comfy, though the walls could use a repaint and the pillows weren’t especially luxurious, but were fine. We didn’t get to use the spa, unfortunately. We didn’t play golf either, but the course looked amazing and very well maintained. We’d definitely like to come back one day!

The breakfast had a big choice, and the food at the golf restaurant was amazing, with generous portions. Reception and serving staff were extremely helpful, and we had a lovely stay. The only downside was that the restaurant was closed on Sunday evening, leaving a half-hour walk to McDonald's or the pizza booth. I’d recommend it.
