Camping les sables d'or

The waterpark was great for children and adults of all ages, though they’re very strict about speedo shorts. The campsite itself is amazing, and I’d highly recommend it. The premium cottage would get 5 stars from me: clean, modern, spacious and lovely. The admin was another story. Friends who’d booked bedding waited 2 days to get it, and others extended their stay only to have the cleaner arrive and their keys stop working. It took ages to sort out. They also tried to charge us for a room we’d agreed we could use. The pre-arrival paperwork is ridiculously long. I’d skip the bedding and buy some cheaper at the local Lidl.

We chose two cabin homes and had plenty of space; they were comfortable and had everything we needed. You’ll need to bring the basics, but a nearby Lidl was affordable and had what we needed. The children loved the park, and with 7 kids aged 1-10, we had a great time using the water areas and beach. When we needed a baby bottle, William came to the rescue, even though that wasn’t part of his job. His help really made our trip special. We were visiting from the USA and knew almost no French, but the staff spoke English and answered our many questions. We waited our turn at reception, where they had a lot of information to go through, and the wait was reasonable. The ground crew were especially helpful. We also visited the Aquatic center on the entrance road above the Park, where you can get a discounted entry fee. It was wonderful, and I’d recommend spending at least a day there. The park itself has lots for children and adults too. There’s great shopping in the nearby cities, and with a car you can reach monasteries, abbeys, Spain and the Pyrenees. A car is a real advantage, though local buses were helpful, on time and only a euro. Go to the city port center for lunch and a walk along the boardwalk. Picking this location was well worth the trip, and we came away with wonderful memories.

The caravans in the new section were great, and being close to the beach was the best part. Elsewhere, the campsite felt outdated, and the water park was dated and chaotic.

There’s lots to do nearby and it’s a good campsite. Just watch out for the speedo law in france, LOL 😆
