Our host went out of their way to make things work for us, and we really enjoyed our time at Le Saint Louis hotel. The rooms were great, the location was perfect, and I especially liked the courtyard garden.

The staff were super, and the hotel is very conveniently placed inside the ramparts of Aigues-Mortes. My only issue was the tiny toilet in room four. It was so cramped that I couldn't close the door.

Set within the old city walls, this historic hotel has a lot of character. The interior is cared for with affection, and the decor suits the stone walls and pretty backyard. Rooms are charming, looking either over the old road or into the yard. Breakfast isn't a big selection, but it's fine, and includes the local Fougasse, a sweet cake with an orange hint. Service is very friendly, and the main bus stop is only a three-minute walk away, making it easy to explore the area.

The staff were very friendly, and the hotel is well located in the middle of the walled town. They provided free parking, which is rare, though the car park is a six or seven minute walk away and can sometimes be full. That's not the hotel's fault. I'd recommend staying here.

Our holiday was ruined by what we found in the room: bedbugs on the mattress and walls. We told reception, but they didn't seem surprised, and offered us a room at another hotel instead. That room still wasn't clean, the furniture was damaged, and the toilet looked dirty. This didn't feel at all like a three-star hotel.
