Hotel des Augustins

The room was clean, modern and quite nice, with big windows, a comfortable bed and a lovely bathtub. Rotonde parking overnight was handy, though €25 felt pricey. The location is fabulous and very walkable. At check-in, the gentleman was professional, welcoming and efficient. The next day, though, the blonde lady at reception asked for my room number when I came back, then wanted my name as well. When I asked why, she said it was for security because people walk in, and she hadn’t been there when I checked in. I found it odd to be questioned every time I returned just because the staff changed. I’d paid to feel welcome and comfortable, not like an unwanted guest. That was my one gripe. She apologized later and treated me well after that.

We had a really good stay at Hotel des Augustines. The rooms were very spacious, everything was clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect. The staff were a big help too. We were an Aussie couple on holiday and would definitely recommend Hotel des Augustines.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is in an ideal spot with a nice view from the window. Our room was the problem: it was very small, old and badly worn. The toilet lid had come off, tape covered the air-conditioning unit’s connection, and the carpet isn’t a good choice for anyone with allergies. The outdoor part of the air conditioner was extremely noisy, even when the unit was off inside, so sleeping with the window open wasn’t possible. Inside, the airflow pointed straight at the bed, which wasn’t comfortable either. Maybe we were unlucky with that particular room. If you get a better one, the hotel could still be a good choice in Aix en Provence.

We cancelled through Wotif and were still charged. Then the follow-up correspondence was aggressive and nasty. Awful to deal with. Shame on you, and shame on Wotif.
