Mercure Aix en Provence Beaumanoir

The staff were nice, and the design and comfort were generally good. Having a pool, fridges and coffee in the rooms, plus free parking, was helpful. I just found it farther to walk into central Aix than I would have liked.

Getting there was easy, and the hotel is well located with convenient parking. The staff were very friendly, and breakfast had a great range of food. The building feels a little dated. I couldn't get used to the toilet being separate from the sink, though apparently that's common in France.

The renovation has left the rooms looking new and well cared for, and the shared spaces are beautiful. The hotel is now a Mercure instead of a Novotel. Breakfast was thoughtfully done in a lovely room, and I'm already planning another visit soon.

The staff were friendly and professional, and the location is good. For one night the low price made the stay manageable, but the hotel doesn't feel like four-star accommodation. It seems there has been no investment since it was built: the fittings are very old and in poor shape. The room carpet was worn, stained, and looked at least 30 years old. The bathroom was also very dated, with substandard fixtures apart from the soap. Although the room had air conditioning, it was old and we couldn't adjust the temperature. I dislike leaving a negative review, and there are other faults I could list, but that wouldn't be fair. A coach group of more than 50 people made the restaurant visit difficult. We waited a long time for a table, and the food was expensive for its quality. I hope Accor addresses the hotel's condition.
