Le Dauphinois

The staff were warm and welcoming, and breakfast was generous. Parking was another plus. But after staying at Hotel Le Dauphinois a few years ago, I was disappointed by how much the quality seemed to have declined. Both rooms we booked had problems, and the hotel was full, so switching rooms wasn't an option. There was considerable mold, and the bathroom drainage was poor. Without a shower curtain, water quickly flooded the bathroom and added to the mold issue. The towels weren't clean, the rooms had poor soundproofing, and the bedding was very hard, which I wouldn't recommend for spa guests. The electrical wiring also didn't look up to code. The price is attractive, but that doesn't make these issues acceptable. I'd look for another hotel at the same price.

The rooms were gloomy and run-down, with old furniture and oddly colored carpet on the walls and floor, marked with stains. I even saw cobwebs on the ceiling above the bed. The welcome was friendly, and the price seemed reasonable, but still felt too high for what you get. Only go if you feel nostalgic for a bygone, dilapidated place.

Breakfast was plentiful and really tasty, and we enjoyed it on the lovely terrace. The staff and reception were very pleasant. It's well located, about a five-minute walk from the train station, and the price is reasonable. The hotel is perfectly decent for a night, with TV and Wi-Fi, private parking in a lovely courtyard, and a small, clean bathroom. Our street-facing room was a bit noisy.

The rooms felt a little too rustic, but the staff were welcoming and the location was pleasant and quiet. The menu was interesting, portions were generous, and the food was very good.
