Camping Le Pré de la Fontaine

The campsite was noisy, with traffic from the nearby road audible from 6 a.m. There was hardly anyone there in July, so maybe there’s a reason. We had booked a tent pitch for one night, but that didn’t excuse the manager’s unpleasant, pushy behavior. She didn’t know how to welcome guests calmly and tried to charge us an unexplained extra €17. After we objected, she worked out the price again but never apologized. A terrible experience, avoid this campsite.

This two-star campsite is peaceful, spacious, and well equipped, so it does the job. But the cleanliness was disappointing: there were clearly old cobwebs, and, above all, an unpleasant musty smell. I’m very sensitive to that. A campsite should be spotless, which is why I’ve given this rating.

We arrived at 9:30 pm and were welcomed warmly and flexibly. The manager started cooking for us straight away, so there was no wait. The owners are down-to-earth, approachable, and genuinely friendly. Great value for money for a short, inexpensive weekend away, with a jacuzzi and hammam too. I highly recommend it.

Breakfast was in a sort of tarpaulin-covered shelter, and it was 1 degree Celsius in there, even with a coat and scarf on. When we asked to take breakfast back to our chalet and eat somewhere warm, the owner snapped that NO, we had to eat there, end of story. We’d also paid extra for bed linens that smelled musty. The owner clearly has no idea what hospitality means. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!
