Campo Dell'Oro

I ran a training session in one of the meeting rooms, and it was all perfectly set up. The team at Campo dell Oro really do a great job, and I’ll definitely be back. The hotel itself is very close to the beach, with big, clean rooms and a stylish interior. Everyone was super friendly, and the kitchen deserves a star. It’s absolutely worth a try!

The pool was the standout for me: nicely designed, with bubbles and shallow sections, plus chairs and parasols around it. Parking was good, and the airport is very close, though planes and helicopters pass overhead all the time. Ajaccio is further away, so you need a car or taxi to get around. Our first-floor room was supposed to have a sea view, but there really wasn’t one. It had a daily bottle of water, a kettle, a TV and a nice bathroom, though the shower door let water leak everywhere. The rooms were okay overall. Breakfast and the restaurant were acceptable but had a limited choice of dishes. Housekeeping depended on who came in. One young woman was wonderful, while an older woman got annoyed if you didn’t let her clean right away. The reception area could use some work too, since it didn’t make a good first impression.

The bedrooms are clean and kept to a high standard, and there’s interesting carved wood all over the hotel. The food is very expensive, and they don’t offer light meals. It’s set beside a main road, so there can be a lot of noise. You really need a car here, and driving around can feel hairy because there are lots of accidents. The buses are totally unreliable. There is a train behind the hotel, but it doesn’t go to many interesting places. I’d say it’s more suited to company meetings.

The rooms and other facilities are clean and nice. After that, the good things stop. Staff were unhelpful and sometimes arrogant. They wear UK flags on their uniforms but barely speak English. I know you’re in France, but even so, the service was terrible. Whenever we raised an issue, they said the hotel was full and nothing could be done. We went to the restaurant for lunch when about a third of the tables were occupied, and they still refused to serve us, saying they were full. There was no flexibility with check-in at 4 or checkout at 11. We couldn’t arrange different times. I won’t be coming back.
