Relax Hotel

The hot water was the one clear positive. The room was bare and basic, with just one light switch by the bed. There was one towel for both of us, and the bathroom was a plastic all-in-one unit like something for a caravan. The clean bed had only a sheet and a thin cover, and the little electric heater seemed to warm up while we slept. The walls were incredibly thin, and we could hear the people next door talking loudly and banging around until after 3 AM. We paid after being told breakfast was included, then found out it wasn't. We were directed upstairs with only a vague indication of where the room was. We stayed because it was on our route through France. We'd spent the previous week in places at similar prices, and they all offered some facilities for guests. This one had none. After a reply finally came three weeks later, I want to clarify that we weren't desperate. We were travelling from Sicily to the UK and booked at the last minute because we didn't know where we'd end up that night. After driving all day, once we'd picked a place, that was the end of the day. We were tired, having an adventure, and didn't have much time to search for somewhere good. That's why we used booking.com. My wife booked this hotel and didn't read the reviews. Portuguese is her first language, and she couldn't translate them while I was driving. On the same trip, we stayed an extra night at a place in Rome because of its location, room quality, breakfast, friendly staff, and facilities. It cost €45 with breakfast and even had two bedside lights. Every hotel on our trip was around €50, which was our budget. This was the worst place on our way home, a dubious distinction you can claim. The response was what we expected from the hotel. We didn't expect an apology, though it would have been nice to get one for the breakfast mix-up, and for that ridiculous plastic cubicle in the room that you call a bathroom.
