Le Dauphin Hotel

I wasn’t happy with my single room. It was quite narrow, and street noise came in easily, so I woke earlier than I wanted. The private bathroom was good, though, and the staff were friendly. The hotel is centrally located for exploring on foot, and you can stop briefly out front to unload or load your luggage.

Our room was enormous, with two small balconies, a mini fridge, and a large TV. We loved looking out at the port and mountains each day, and everything we needed was within walking distance. The hotel manager and the rest of the staff were especially kind and patient, which made the stay very pleasant. Thanks! The Wi-Fi was tricky: the signal was very weak in our room, and we only managed to connect one device. We had a tub and handheld shower head, so a proper shower wasn’t possible. That didn’t bother us, but it may be useful to know.

Finding an affordable place was tricky because the trip from Paris to Ajaccio seemed pricier than going to Bastia. I don’t think I’d stayed in a two-star hotel before, and maybe that rating was from years ago, before the renovations and the kind staff I met at Le Dauphin. The location is great, the air-conditioned rooms were clean, and the cleaning team did an excellent job. Highly recommend it if you’re after something affordable and central.

The location is the one good thing I can say about this hotel. There was no hot water in the shower, and it drained so badly that the bathroom flooded after about two minutes. One window had only a matte covering and no curtains, so you wake at first light, if not earlier. Sound insulation is basically nonexistent. You can hear every movement in the hall and in nearby rooms.
