L'autre gîte

That swimming pool was a real plus. We had a lovely weekend at the gîte, which is set up well for groups. There’s what you need to cook and enjoy time together with friends, and it makes a great base for a nature break.

The host was so welcoming and kind, and the place made for a really enjoyable family weekend. We had board games, a stone barbecue, a terrace, a lovely pool, and even a little path where we could play pétanque. A pleasant gîte for time with family or friends, and I’d happily recommend it.

We enjoyed the weekend, and the location just outside the village meant we could listen to music whenever we wanted. The source of the Lison river is only a few minutes away. The setup could be clearer in the listing: the cottage has two levels, reached by an outdoor staircase. The kitchen also needs some basic tools for groups staying several days and cooking, like a whisk, a sharp knife, a peeler, and a chopping board. The pool was a letdown. It had apparently turned green after a storm the day before. The owner responded quickly, but we never got to use it. We did reach a financial agreement.

There are enough bedrooms and bathrooms for a group, and plenty of crockery and cutlery. But the kitchen isn’t set up well for group cooking, with no worktop space for dishes or ingredients. A few things also seem due for renovation, including the sockets and curtains. The pool wasn’t working, and there was no reduction in the price.
