Logis Hotel des Ducs

We had secure parking for our motorbike in the gated area behind the hotel, although getting it over the gravel was a bit challenging. Check-in was easy and the receptionist was friendly. The room was small but reasonably comfortable, quiet, and had a pleasant view over the garden at the back. There was no lift, as far as I could tell, which could be a problem for anyone with reduced mobility. The bathroom was also small but did the job. The mirror in the room was too low and poorly placed for the lighting, though there was another one in the bathroom at a better height. We didn't try the TV. The hotel is handy if you're passing through Alençon, right next to the station and a five to ten-minute walk from places to eat. If you like beer, La Dentelle has a huge selection of bottled beers and very generous food portions. Breakfast at the hotel was decent, though a little pricey for what it was, like the accommodation.

The location was handy, opposite the train station, with some nice restaurants nearby. I liked the building, the little garden out back, and the pleasant reception staff. But roadworks at the entrance made it hard to get in, and nobody warned us. The guests in the room above were extremely noisy until very late. I know that's not really the hotel's fault, but it left a bad taste. Breakfast was €9 per person, far too much when we could get at least as good from a local shop.

The private parking was great, and the hotel was well located. Our room was very hot, though, and the pillows felt like concrete. Neither of us slept well. Still, it was good for the price.

We had a clean, comfortable stay with nice staff and a great location. Our room looked out over the garden, where there was a covered car parking area. There was also outdoor decking where we could enjoy a drink in the sunshine.
