Les Marguerites

Such a charming, spacious place, with a beautiful atmosphere. We were warmly welcomed, the accommodations were excellent, and the food was brilliant.

The grounds and rooms were lovely, there was plenty of space for all of us, and parking was easy. Everything was very clean and tidy. We came with friends to celebrate a 60th birthday and had a wonderful time, including a couple of nice walks into the hills and through the local town. Antoinette was a fantastic host, and her cooking was incredible. Try her mushroom risotto or curry. Just writing about it has me hungry again. 10/10 from me.

At Les Marguerites, we arrived as strangers and left feeling we’d made real friends. Antoinette and Keith share their home warmly, and there’s always time for a chat. They’ve spent years in the area, first as visitors and later restoring this magnificent property, so they can point you toward hidden spots, prize-winning restaurants, lovely viewpoints, and the familiar sights too, like Carcassonne’s old town. Alet-Les-Bains is a characterful little medieval walled town, and the center is only a two-minute walk away. If you want a stay that feels like everyday French life, this is a great choice. It also makes a handy base for touring the sights and vineyards in this part of southern France.

We had the whole house for a family wedding and reunion, with relatives coming from all over the world. There were nearly 40 of us staying in Alet Les Bains, and Antoinette somehow managed all the different needs and personalities, including a few chaotic and stressful moments, with great humor. She was lovely and went out of her way to help. Her tips for wineries, nearby beaches, places to visit, bakeries, and canoeing were all great. I’d definitely recommend staying at Les Marguerites. Just bring plenty of insect bite cream!
