Hotel Casa Orfea

The location and the owners are what really make this hotel. Algajola is a little beach-town gem, and staying here let us avoid busy, car-infested Calvi and Ile-Rousse while keeping plenty of services and restaurants close by, both in town and along the huge beach. Sant-Antonio and Pigna, gorgeous mountain villages, are only minutes away. Restaurants, bars, a mini-market, bakery, and beach are all within 10 to 300 meters of the hotel, right in the heart of town at the start of the pedestrian area. The mother and daughter who host the place are delightful. They're welcoming, friendly, hospitable, full of recommendations, and clearly take pride in the hotel. It shows in the tasteful decor and how clean everything is. We had an amazing four-night stay at Casa Orfea. For a beach-focused stay in the Balagne, it's great value. I really can't understand how it's only rated two stars. The breakfast on the cozy terrace was excellent, there's spacious private parking nearby, the rooms have air conditioning, and it was quiet at night with no street noise.

The friendliest, warmest part of Casa Orfea is its staff. The mother and daughter who host it are always ready to help, and made us feel welcome. Thank you for a wonderful holiday! Breakfast was a lovely start to the day. They can make it to your wishes, which is a real benefit of a small hotel, and the homemade jams and pastries were delicious. The hotel is in the center of Algajola, an idyllic place to relax. There are lots of restaurants open late, a pleasant beach nearby, and an ice cream bar next door with heavenly artisan ice creams. If you're driving and want to explore northern Corsica, it's also a great base for road trips. The Road of the Artisans starts a short drive away, and the little villages along it, including Sant’Antonino and Pigna, are an experience.

The breakfast was great, made individually with lots of care, and everything was very clean. Such a warm, lovely atmosphere at this amazing hotel, with the beach close by. Perfect spot, we'll come again.

The new owners are delightful and their customer service is wonderful. They were as kind and accommodating as possible to our group of bicycle tourists. Once they learned Americans like more than one cup of coffee in the morning and need protein for a long day of riding, they brought us pots of coffee and cooked lots of eggs. We really appreciated that! The usual French breakfast of bread and jam would last about 12 minutes of cycling, so the eggs helped a lot. It's a small town, so everything in Algajola is close. The Spar market, about 100 meters away, has a good range of groceries, beer, and wine. I hope the owners do very well with the hotel!
