Hôtel Restaurant Le Sèstrière

The room was unbearably hot, and the thermostat was stuck. The only good thing was that when we told the owner, he came with pliers and turned off the heating. We had two awful nights on a terrible mattress, and my back paid for it. The rooms also have poor soundproofing. The bathroom was tiny. There was a bathtub, but you couldn't even lie down in it, and the narrow tub made the plastic shower curtain stick to you. Not pleasant. Breakfast wasn't worth what they charged, either. We were told the restaurant had been closed for two years because of staff shortages, but that wasn't mentioned when we booked. Then on Saturday, after we got back from eating elsewhere at the resort, we saw eight people having raclette. They said you needed a reservation. We'd called Friday to book a table for the evening we arrived, so we wouldn't have to search for somewhere to eat. When we pointed that out to the manager, he stammered and had no answer. It felt like favoritism, which was really inappropriate. I strongly advise against staying here.

Right at the foot of the slopes, and the welcome was warm and friendly. Breakfast had plenty of options for the price, even though it wasn't all-you-can-eat, and the host was very attentive. The place is showing its age, but it was clean overall. In room 9, an antenna or satellite dish issue meant hardly any TV channels came through, so I was stuck with TF1, lol. The hallways also smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I know that's not the owners' fault, but maybe they could take stronger measures?

The owners were so friendly and accommodating. They even found room for an extra bed at the last minute. Our week at Hotel Le Sestrière was wonderful, with delicious evening meals and a generous breakfast. The location is ideal, right at the foot of the slopes, which were especially snowy and sunny this year. The decor is a little dated, but the rooms have been renovated recently and everything was spotless. We had all the equipment we needed, including a convenient ski locker. Great value for money. We hope to come back soon and highly recommend it.

The hotel is lovely, and its location right at the foot of the slopes is excellent. The owners were really welcoming.
