Domaine Du Moulin Neuf

We had a lovely time with the hosts. They were friendly, helpful people with genuine values, and we enjoyed sharing delicious meals with them. The countryside setting is beautiful and secluded, the breakfast was generous, and the bedding was really high quality. Highly recommended, and we'll be back.

The breakfast was good, though nothing exceptional. Getting to the dining room meant walking through a room that seemed to be the owners' main space, full of mess: children's toys, open bottles, chip bags, cigarette packs, and more. The kitchen beyond it looked just as filthy and disordered. If you're used to living in a hovel, you may feel at home, but otherwise you'll probably be disappointed. We stayed in the large room in "La Suite." The bed was fairly good, but there was nowhere to put our luggage, and with the general lack of cleanliness we didn't want to leave it on the floor. Cobwebs and thick dust made it seem like the room hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Everything smelled of stale tobacco, apart from the hallway by the toilets, which smelled strongly of the septic tank. Even two days later, my clothes still stank of tobacco.

The meals served on site were excellent and very reasonably priced. The place is a good choice for a bed and breakfast stay in Touraine, especially at such an affordable rate for the area. It's peaceful, surrounded by nature and animals, and the people are welcoming. Whether you're after equestrian activities or simply a bed and breakfast experience, the calm is unmistakable. I'll definitely come back.

The host's welcome was mediocre, and the shared areas were seriously short on hygiene. Also, in December our room had no heating apart from a little fireplace that blows warm air, bought from GIFI. Bring your fleece jackets.
