We loved being here. It’s a small, charming hotel right in the heart of Amboise, and from our top-floor room in the main building we had a lovely view from the bathroom. We watched hot air balloons pass by each morning. The room was comfortable, the staff were kind and helpful, and the location was fantastic. Just remember there’s no elevator in this small building. A couple of practical things: the parking area is reached over gravel, so with wheeled luggage it’s best to stop by the entrance and unload first. Otherwise you’ll have to carry your bags across. A small rental car is also a good idea. The entrance and exit sit on the corner of two one-way streets, and the space is tight for getting in and making the sharp turn out in either direction. At night the main gate is locked for security. There’s a small pedestrian door, but we had the outside entry code and couldn’t work out how to open it from inside. Early in the morning they opened the main gate for cars and we walked through. If you need to drive out before the gate is normally unlocked, for instance for a hot air balloon tour, check with the staff ahead of time so you know you can get out early enough.

The courtyard, lined with flowers, was a lovely spot for wine after a day visiting chateaux. Our room was quaint, clean, and lovely, with a cozy bed and modern bathroom. Staff were welcoming, and the room was refreshed daily. It’s just a two-minute walk to the town center, with open-air restaurants, the riverwalk, and Chateau Amboise close by. A charming stay in Amboise. Merci beaucoup!

The location is hard to beat, the hotel was very clean, and the service was great. Our room was small and quaint, and the air conditioning worked wonderfully. The downsides were the price, WiFi that barely worked, and only local TV channels. The mattresses had deep grooves from previous guests, and the beds felt so worn that I felt like I was in a hammock. If you sleep on your side, you may have to learn to sleep on your back, or you probably won’t get much rest. Breakfast cost 17 euros per person and was terrible: cold hard-boiled eggs, concentrate orange juice, assorted jams and dried fruit, and stale bread. I’m confident none of it had been freshly made that morning.

We stopped here last night while cycling through the Loire valley, and it was wonderful. The room was beautiful, the service was great, and breakfast was excellent. Stay here, you’ll love it!

My card was charged the full $644.84 as soon as I booked on March 3. I cancelled within the free cancellation period, but more than five months later I still haven’t received any refund. Booking and my credit card company have contacted the hotel repeatedly without success. This shows a lack of basic business ethics. Stay away!
