Mercure Amiens Cathedrale

The main appeal is the spot, right by the cathedral. The rooms are fine, standard corporate hotel rooms, though on the small side. Refurbishment was going on during our visit and affected the reception, bar and restaurant area. We hadn't been told about it when we booked.

I booked half board, and both dinner in the restaurant and breakfast were lovely. The price wasn't high, and you get a lot for your money. I'd definitely come back if I were in the area. I got a room facing the stunning Cathedral, and spent quite a few hours in the chair by the window. It was large, with a separate toilet and good toiletries, including hair conditioner that actually worked on my long hair, a rarity. There was a kettle and coffee maker, but no tea bags. Luckily, I'm so English I brought my own. The welcome was lovely, and the staff spoke excellent English.

Our room was exceptionally clean, quiet and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming the whole time. The hotel is a few minutes from buses, the metro and local places to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed our Amiens stay and will choose this hotel when we return. Highly recommend it.

We loved being in the city centre, across from the cathedral and close to Amiens sights and restaurants. There are lots of green spaces across from the hotel for walking the dog, and our room had enough space for two people and our dog. The rooms and common areas were clean, and we enjoyed both the hearty breakfast buffet and evening cocktails at the bar. The staff were wonderful and our three-night stay was lovely, beyond expectations. One tip: the closest underground parking garage has no elevator. If you've got lots of luggage, there's a 10-minute tourist drop-off spot beside the hotel's side entrance.
