Ancelle is a quiet, quaint little French village, and the hotel was amazing. The pool and jacuzzi were great, and the staff were really friendly and ready to help make the stay comfortable. The restaurant food was tasty and beautifully presented. I recommend Tourtons as a starter and for dessert. It was amazing how the chef made mashed potatoes taste out of this world!

The staff really went out of their way for us. Since we were traveling with a baby, they even brought room service, although that’s not something they usually offer. The restaurant and spa were both top-notch, and the pool was clean, well kept and just the right temperature for a refreshing swim. We also checked out the sweet market on Sunday, which was a fun, unusual part of the trip. I stayed at Les Autanes with my family and we had a wonderful time overall. The one downside was the cold living room. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but the person sleeping on the couch wasn’t happy about it.

The restaurant was lovely, especially the fondue, and the waiters were efficient and kind. One male waiter stood out, though we didn’t get his name. We also had a swim in the pool and booked a spa session for one day, which you get to enjoy by yourself. Ancelle is such a beautiful, peaceful village, and we slept well. The hotel room was cosy and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen, lovely bathroom, balcony and comfortable beds. In my opinion it felt more like a four-star room than a three-star one, and the details all seemed well thought through. The staff were patient and helpful despite our terrible French. A nice guy at reception spoke a bit of English, and everyone was friendly and always said hi. I’m glad we chose to stay here instead of in a big resort like Orcieres. The skiing in Ancelle was good and just a five-minute walk away, and there were lovely walks too. I plan to brush up on my French and hope to return next year.
