Our double room at the front caught the afternoon and evening sun. It had a clean, tidy ensuite, with hot water in both the bath and shower. The single room at the back actually had a double bed and an ensuite shower. The decor suited the historic building, with lovely beams, and the hotel was wonderful with excellent service. Dinner and the continental breakfast were tasty and filling. The owner knew a lot about drinks, especially wine, and recommended a Vouvray with the pork dinner. It went down very well. I also enjoyed a refreshing, clean-tasting cider. We all enjoyed our overnight stay and would consider coming back.

The owners’ dog was awesome. The room was lovely and had an oscillating fan, which is handy since a lot of places in southern France don’t have air conditioning.

We found a good parking spot behind a gate, and the food was gluten-free. There was a restaurant, with breakfast and evening meals. The village roads are tight, so drive carefully. We couldn’t have chosen a better place.

There’s a marvelous courtyard, and the food and wine were great. Angles sur Anglin is one of France’s most beautiful villages, and the relais du Lyon d'or fits the place, with traditional rooms. The church bells ring every hour, even at night, so you’ll have to get used to that.

The village setting is beautiful. I only came for dinner and didn’t stay overnight. The service was average, and the food was terrible. The gazpacho was cold, tinned tomato soup.
