Hotel Maison Chiberta

The brunch was the part we enjoyed most. It’s simple, with good ingredients and food, but arrive early if you want a nice table. The rest of the stay was a disappointment. From booking by phone through departure, customer care and service were poor, apart from Adrien and a young woman at reception on Saturday afternoon with a foreign accent, who were the only staff who seemed to care and take responsibility. The indoor pool lets children into the wellness area, disrupting the calm. When we raised a concern, spa employee Coralie just told us to speak to reception instead of taking action. Our room felt unwelcoming, and a view over the parking lots is one to forget. The staff didn’t seem trained for a hotel with these prices and this kind of clientele.

The food was excellent and the surroundings lovely, which made our dinner with friends a bit of a shame. The hostess kept us waiting a long time while she dealt with a group. When a server finally came after about 10 mn, he seemed rushed and wasn’t very courteous. The water we ordered never turned up. Everyone else on the team was friendly and really nice, so maybe we just got unlucky with the two unpleasant people.

The food tasted just as good as the restaurant looked. It was beautifully decorated.

The other staff were pleasant and helpful, but this was one of my worst hotel stays in a long time. My room was clean, yet shabby and worn, more like a one or two star room than the four stars advertised. The hotel is miles from any other restaurants, and one evening the restaurant was closed without guests being told because they were accommodating a large group. I spoke to the Head chef, but he refused to help. I ended up walking miles through the rain to find somewhere else to eat.
