Hotel du Nord

The room I booked was a little small, but more than enough for one person, and very clean, which mattered most to me. The staff were kind and helpful, and I had a great stay. Since Annecy is a small town, it felt convenient that the hotel was so close to the train station. My only concern was security: guests are asked to leave their key at reception whenever they go out. Someone could give my room number and get access, and I don't think anyone would notice.

The receptionist was very nice and did a fantastic job, and the location is good. I booked two nights, but room 23 smelled horribly of drainage. They said the hotel was full that night, so I couldn't switch straight away. It was disgusting and I nearly left in the morning. Thankfully, they found me another room, 46, on the top floor. It was cute and smelled okay, but the walls and doors were so thin, like paper. I woke up around 20 times because people were coming and going and being loud in their rooms. It's cheaper than most hotels, but it was still a pretty bad experience. I wouldn't come back.

The location was perfect for the French exam I was taking, and the price was great for the area. Reception staff were warm and helpful, and the service was excellent. The rooms were nicely decorated and very good. I'd skip breakfast, though. There are nearby cafes with better food for less. I took off a star because I'd have cleaned the bathroom better myself, though I'm picky. ☺️

The location was good and the staff were helpful, but the room was old and awkwardly laid out. It was hard to use the toilet and move around. We left early and found a better room elsewhere.
