Oskar Hotel

The rooms were in good shape and cleaned daily. Reception is staffed until 22h, and there's a code to enter the building after it closes. A tram stop nearby gets you to Geneva in about 20 minutes. It's a decent hotel, but I wouldn't pay for breakfast. It's a typical French breakfast, and you can get a croissant and coffee anywhere.

This is about my stay in June 2025, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel as it was then. The place was a mess of construction, inside and out, with the streets in front and behind dug up. Plastic and scaffolding covered the windows, and demolition dust was everywhere. There was only one lift, the stairs were blocked by building materials, and the wait for the lift felt endless. Builders came and went while reception was closed during the day and at night, and the drilling was unbearable. Breakfast was sparse. By 8am, the bread was gone and the juice machine had only water left. There was no hot food, and not even a toaster, even if bread had been available. The toilet also had brown marks left from the previous guest. The hotel should have closed completely and reopened with trained staff and a plan for serving guests. The basics were missing. I'm sure it could be lovely after construction, but I can't understand why anyone thought it was a good idea to keep it open during the work.

The rooms were clean, but the rest was very poor. Reception staff were the worst, and there was no service. The desk closed at lunchtime, so when I needed to wait for my flight, I couldn't sit inside and had to go outdoors with my suitcases. Breakfast was very weak, so a nearby restaurant would be a better choice. The internet was bad too. Renovations meant a long wait for the elevator, since all the building materials were being moved in it, and my window looked out onto a construction site.

I wish I could give it zero. The room was bad: the towels were dirty, and most of the furniture was broken and coming apart.
