Breakfast was a real highlight, with a generous spread of delicious treats that went well beyond what I expected. The room was spotless and felt luxurious, and the couple running the place were so kind and helpful. They made me feel as if I was welcome in their home, almost part of the family for the night. Such a lovely stay in a beautiful town.

The bed was comfortable, the room lovely, and the bathroom had everything I needed. I stayed for three nights and enjoyed the continental breakfast each morning, especially the great coffee.

After a day exploring the area, it was lovely to unwind in the garden. This charming French town house has a large garden and has been restored with real care and taste by Yvonne and Richard, a warm and welcoming English couple. They know the area well and offered useful suggestions for nearby places to visit. The historic town is an easy walk away, with plenty to see and some amazing places to eat. We enjoyed our stay at La Bicyclette Blue in this quiet part of France that was still undiscovered to us.

After a long journey, relaxing in the charming garden was just what we needed. Yvonne and Richard gave us a very warm welcome, and their restored French town house is lovely. Breakfast was the best we had in France during our week there. The house is within walking distance of places to eat and drink, and there's parking on site. We'd happily return if we're in the area again.

I spent four nights here while visiting the area last year, and Montmorillon made a great base, whether you're touring or staying put. Its centre is picturesque and it has its own market. The accommodation is in a separate part of the building, with its own bathroom, which suited independent travellers or families. Richard and Yvonne were wonderfully accommodating. I had breakfast each morning in the south-facing garden, with a terrific range of local produce, including fresh croissants Richard collected from the local Boulangerie.
