Best Western Hotel Journel Antibes

I was very upset with this stay. We paid for parking and were assigned an underground space, but one of the two handicap spots was occupied by a car without a handicap parking card. We raised the issue when booking and were told to park elsewhere. The person we spoke to didn't understand why accessible parking spaces matter. The other spaces are narrow and difficult for disabled people to get in and out of. The wider accessible spaces are also closer to the lift for a reason. Telling us to park somewhere else isn't a solution. The hotel should make sure those spots are used only by people who need them. We also couldn't use the rooftop bar, one of the reasons we booked, because it's not accessible by lift. You have to take the stairs from the third floor. The room size was okay, but the bed wasn't very comfortable, and there wasn't much else to expect, for example, no mini fridge. At the right price, I might recommend it to people without disabilities. Otherwise, I'd look at other options.

This hotel isn't convenient for much, even though the rooftop gives you a wonderful panoramic view. We were on the third floor below the rooftop restaurant (see separate review) and could easily hear the music, even with the window closed. We asked them to turn it down. There were a few practical problems too. The room was warm and stuffy because there was no individual climate control. Opening the large window let in fresh air, along with mosquitoes. The bathroom sink stopper had to be removed for the water to drain. There were no instructions for reaching reception: you have to park outside the property, walk into the lobby, and get a card pass for the underground parking.

The staff were nice, and I can say the hotel was okay, but not much more than that. Breakfast was disappointing, with little choice and questionable quality. Our room had no fridge, and there were no slippers when we asked reception for some. The bathroom had one 3-in-1 bottle instead of separate shampoo, conditioner, and soap, which mattered to me as a woman. At night, the room beside the elevator was really noisy, and we could hear the neighbours talking and watching TV. We asked to move, but staff said it wasn’t possible. It wasn’t a terrible stay, but for the price I think we could have found somewhere better. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The rooms were unbearably hot because the air conditioning didn’t work, so we couldn’t sleep. Reception wasn’t helpful when we asked them to sort it out. On top of that, the room smelled like sewer drains as soon as we opened the door. A disappointing stay, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
