La Garoupe Gardiole Boutique Hotel

The hotel has potential, and the staff were very friendly, but I wouldn't stay here again. I was there for 10 days as a single mum and got the smallest room. After I asked for something bigger, they moved me to a slightly larger one. There still wasn't room for my two suitcases except on the bed. It felt like a prison cell, in the old house with windows that haven't been refurbished. The rooms are small, with no bathroom doors or wardrobe doors, and at night you can see through the room door. It seems they don't like doors. The room wasn't ready until a very late 15.30h, and nobody told me it was ready to check in. The pool is lovely and the hotel is very quiet. The breakfast room has so-called Boho-style furniture that is old and uncomfortable. The chilled bar keeper could pay more attention to guests, and the gardener could do no more for the plants that had already died on the balconies. The reception has three ladies sharing a small desk, which makes no sense. The general manager should speak with guests during her visits to find out what could be improved, instead of looking at her notebook the whole time. Just asking "Comment ca vas?" in the French way isn't enough to make you want to come back. I wish the management all the best in making this hotel what a 3-star hotel should be. It has potential.

This feels like a hostel, not a hotel, and it was nothing like the photos. The rooms are very basic, and the place felt like a complete fraud. I stay in hotels all the time, and this was awful and incomparable. The night staff were unbelievably rude and sarcastic. There's nowhere communal to sit, and the pool is locked from 8pm. When we raised our concerns, we were told to go somewhere else, ideally somewhere more expensive. Even during torrential rain, they wouldn't let us sit inside because the indoor bar was closed until later. Please don't book.

It's a cute, cosy and clean place, and I had a really nice time. Service was lovely, from the waiter at the pool to the reception team. Laura deserves special thanks. She was professional and lovely, honestly the best receptionist I've ever met. Thank you so much.

The photos look good, but the rooms feel used and oldish, and the clima is very weak. Breakfast was okay. The staff were friendly when we arrived, but when leaving, it took 30 minutes to print an invoice with mistakes. I was also double-charged for the room despite having a prepaid voucher. Eeeeeech, a disappointment all in all.
