Hôtel & Spa - Thalazur Antibes

The hotel seems to have aged, but what bothered me most was the way management and staff handled my complaint. Noise from the room next door led me to ask at reception for a room change. I waited several minutes while the manager and staff chatted about a colleague right in front of me without acknowledging me. My request was refused, and nobody apologized for the wait. It left me feeling that guest concerns aren't taken seriously, which is a real lack of professionalism. I stayed here a few years ago and had no particular problems, but the service seems to have deteriorated a lot since then. This experience didn't meet the service standards I expected.

We booked full board as part of a full package, but nearly everything still came with an extra charge. Full-board guests get a very limited, low-quality restaurant menu, while the better food is on a separate menu and costs more. The place was a huge disappointment and felt like a scam. Avoid it.

The food was a real highlight. We tried dishes we’d never had before, and I came home wanting to recreate a few of them. The rooms were roomy, clean, and comfortable, and the hotel itself was kept very clean. Staff were accommodating and mostly wonderful, though some stood out more than others. The saltwater pools felt so different that I had to get used to swimming in them. There isn’t a shop right nearby, it’s about a 25-minute walk to the closest one, then roughly 10 more minutes to Funland antibes. We could see it from town and the pool at night, so we walked down one evening. Wow, probably the best funfair I’ve seen, with lots of security and great rides. We’d rate the hotel 10 out of 10 and had a brilliant half-board stay.

At 4:30 in the morning, ants were crawling on us. The room was infested, and it was disgusting. We lost our sleep and had to clean our belongings. Reception's answer was to give us another room as if nothing had happened. I tried three times to speak to the manager and was told she had no time, and to come back after breakfast the next day. Apparently you need an appointment to raise a guest problem. The saltwater pool was another letdown. There was black stuff growing on the bottom, which looked dirty and gross, nowhere near what you'd expect at this price. Unacceptable.
