Kyriad & Kyriad Direct Auxerre Appoigny Komplex

Breakfast was meagre, and the coffee came from a machine. It wasn't worth the extra 10 euros. I would book the Mercury next door next time. I ate there the night before, since this motel's own restaurant is closed on weekends. The room was reasonably clean, but cold overnight with no heating, and the windows were wet with condensation by morning. There was only half a roll of toilet paper and the lights were very dim. It's a sad little 3-star motel close to the motorway.

My dogs are exceptionally well behaved and go to Michelin starred restaurants all the time, but bringing them to this restaurant made me feel very uncomfortable. Staff were aggressive and insulting, and blamed me when I objected. They refused any compensation for having misled me into thinking the dogs would be welcome. I was forced to leave a thoroughly unwelcoming situation. Since then, my communications with them have shown them to be extremely unprofessional and lacking basic hospitality skills. This is not a dog friendly hotel at all. The place is a dump, and the staff are rude and don't understand hospitality.

The receptionists were nice and helpful whenever we needed them. Our room was quiet, with a fairly new TV, and coffee, tea and small snacks were provided for free. WiFi was free too. The lounge has a small bar and a very large 60" TV. There's a restaurant next door, separate from the hotel, where you can charge a meal to your room number. It's not near the city center. Breakfast was fine, though not the best I've had, and the coffee wasn't very good. Good value for a pleasant stay in this area.

There was lots of free parking, but we won't stay here again. The bathroom was horrible: the shower curtain looked like it had been hanging there since the 1980s and was filthy, and the towels smelled of wet dogs. The rooms are basic, and there's absolutely nothing in this area. The city tax must be going into someone's pocket, given how rubbish the local area is. Nearby restaurants are pretty poor by French standards too. The hotel itself was OK.
