Hotel Archamps Porte Sud de Geneve

The bed was comfortable and the rooms were generous in size, but day to day was difficult. There’s no food or grocery shop within walking distance, although breakfast is served. We were there for work, and while one of us attended a conference, the other had no lunch or dinner. In the end, we asked local people at the conference to bring us bread and cheese. The rooms were extremely hot. When we said the cooling wasn’t working, we were told to leave the thermostat off, so we ended up opening the windows. Staff also entered our room several times during the day without knocking, including housekeeping and the person who came about the thermostat. It’s far from the airport, there was no Uber available, and the only transfer option was their pricey cabs. There have to be better places to stay.

At 3pm on a Saturday, we went to the bar and found nobody serving. I asked the three ladies at the front desk, who were chatting, if we could order a drink. They said, “Not before 5pm.” Management should take another look at how staff are recruited, or explain to the front desk team that they can serve customers when they aren’t busy checking people in.

The WiFi is really fast, and the front desk staff are very friendly. That’s where the good points end. The room’s AC doesn’t work and is basically a heater, so we had to open the window to cool things down. Luckily, the weather was cold and overcast. We called for help with the AC. They came and turned off its switch at the breaker, so I couldn’t turn on the warm AC anymore. That wasn’t too bad, since the room was cooler with it off. The restaurant food is good, but way overpriced, even compared with Geneva.

We stayed one night while visiting Geneva. It’s easy to reach by car, and the room was large with a comfortable bed.
