Mercure Orléans Portes de Sologne

Margo was really nice and moved us to different seats after we were left waiting at the table by the door. We had a reservation, but the waiter first seated us in poor seats while a couple who arrived just after us got a lovely spot by the window. He brought menus and then didn't come back for the rest of the meal. In the morning, staff were very rude when we asked to use the pool and said children under 14 weren't allowed. A really bad experience. I wouldn't recommend it.

The rooms were clean and neat, and I liked the interior. We only stayed one night on our way back to the Netherlands, but check-in was quick and easy, and all the employees were welcoming and friendly, doing their best to help. Dinner was enjoyable and the food tasty. Our family loved the beef steak, and the prawn risotto was very good too. Breakfast was decent. Would definitely recommend! :)

Juliette at reception was polite, very helpful, and spoke excellent English. Our room was a reasonable size and the bathroom was clean and well equipped. The restaurant, though, completely spoiled the stay. We were travelling with our dogs and had requested an outside table when booking. A man at the restaurant hurried us inside, then insisted outside seating was “NOT POSSIBLE” because everything was reserved. When I reminded him we'd asked for an outdoor table, he walked off and left us standing there. He came back, pulled a table from a row of three, threw two chairs and two menus onto it, then stormed off. I complained at reception straight away. They seated us somewhere else and arranged a different server, but by then the damage was done. Being treated that way in a restaurant I'm paying to eat at is unacceptable. With that attitude, this person has no place working front of house.

It was a calm, peaceful stay, and the staff were outstanding. Baby friendly too. Highly recommended.
