Such a lovely setting, and the host was great.

The food was decent, both in quality and portion size, and drinks cost only €1. But the stay itself was a letdown. The building is beautiful and the rooms are spacious, though comfort is pretty rustic and cleanliness was questionable, with cobwebs and dirty floors. We got no real welcome or hospitality. The woman running the guesthouse only speaks English and doesn't really talk to guests. She seemed much more interested in her dogs and cats 😒. She also appeared to be in poor health, which made me wonder how she manages the place.

This gîte has plenty of potential, which makes the condition such a shame. As soon as you enter the property, the lack of upkeep is obvious, with cobwebs all over, indoors and out. The breakfast cereal was expired, as the photo showed. My room's wall had thousands of mosquitoes on it, and I mean thousands. The last photo showed that too. Cleaning clearly wasn't being done, though at least the linens smelled nice. The meal was mediocre, so I wouldn't recommend it.

The owner's friend greeted us warmly and did what she could to make the stay pleasant while the owner was away. Dinner was quite decent, but breakfast could have been much better. It's a beautiful house, though poorly maintained, with questionable cleaning, creaky doors, and deplorable bedding.
