Hostellerie de la Renaissance

We spent a week here with colleagues while visiting Haras du Pin, and leaving was surprisingly emotional. The host always made sure we were looked after, and the place felt cosy, like a home away from home. Service, rooms, and food were all exceptional. I’d definitely come back. I tried the pool, spa, sauna, and bathtub, and it was the most relaxing stay I’ve ever had. Breakfast was more than enough, and the daily lunch by Arnaud Viel was a dream. The Michelin star makes sense, it felt like eating the stars every day! The cat is adorable and greeted me each morning and night. She’s deaf, so make sure she sees you before approaching.

After seven years, we came back and were delighted to learn that chef Arnaud Viel had earned a thoroughly deserved Michelin star. The meal was a real treat again. Each of the five courses and its matching wine was excellent, with delicious surprises for the senses. Miss Viel runs the hotel, and the excellent staff explained the chef’s culinary work so we could fully appreciate it. We’ll certainly return for the hospitality and kindness.

The restaurant is a must, with fabulous food and a great wine list. It’s also a good place to stay when visiting Normandy, with sensible prices and wonderful service from the team.

Calm, clean, and nice hotel, which I’d recommend. But breakfast was below standard, just croissants with jam and eggs. I was disappointed, that’s not breakfast to me. I’d eat somewhere else.
