ibis Arles

The room was spacious, including the bathroom and shower. It was easy to get to and very nice, and the staff were especially helpful since I don’t speak French.

My room was OK, but check-in was a mess. We waited a little over 30 minutes with two people ahead of us and just one receptionist serving the queue. Two other staff were behind the desk chatting and could easily have helped. During check-in, several guests came by to report that their rooms had no air conditioning or hadn’t been made up. Then, about half an hour after we’d checked in, my colleague found someone else in his room. They’d checked in after us. With a computer booking system, I can’t believe this happened. Absolutely ridiculous.

The one good thing was the receptionist, who was kind. The room had stained blankets, dusty furniture, a hair in the bathtub, and a sink where the water barely drained. It also cost 88 euros without breakfast. The windows had no mosquito nets, so when housekeeping opened them to clean, dozens of mosquitoes got inside and stayed there. I have videos showing them on the ceiling, alive and dead. After a bad experience at the Ibis in Barcelona, I gave Ibis in Arles another chance because I couldn’t find anywhere else. That was a mistake. Never again Accor!

The breakfast was totally fine, and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you’re staying until 12 for checkout, let them know at the start, since housekeeping may come by a few times to clean. For one night, the hotel is alright, but I wouldn’t eat there. The food wasn’t great, so I’d choose one of the fast-food places next door. I don’t like fast food, but at least you know what to expect. And if you’re particular about your room, you might not like it.
