Kyriad Direct Arles

The rooms were so small that the students in our youth tour group, who were put four to a room with beds wall to wall, had nowhere to put their luggage. When we asked for another room, the front desk was unhelpful. It took repeated requests and many phone calls before they reluctantly gave our kids a second room so they could sleep comfortably. The bathrooms were awful too. The shower was too small for my roommate to wash her hair, and the bathroom smelled strongly of urine. I don't think they were cleaned at all. We wanted to gather in the common area since the rooms were too cramped for either the students or adults, but it was locked at 9 pm on the first night, even though it was meant to stay open until 10. The next night, the receptionist said it closed at 8, slammed the door in one of our parents' faces, and refused to let us in. They eventually let us use the space until 10, but warned us not to leave a mess. The customer service was the worst part of a really awful stay.

The man at the front desk was nice, but there was nobody around at night to ask for an extra blanket. The only covering they provided was a thin, paper-like sheet, and you could actually see the mattress springs. Honestly, you'd be better off spending the night in jail.

It's a basic family-run hotel. The best part for us was dinner, beef bourguinon followed by fresh apple pie.

Small and dirty, and a long way from the city. Given the condition, the price is hard to understand. It felt like a money-laundering operation, like most places of this type.
