Best Western Hotel du Lac Dunkerque

The staff were incredible, and I’m very grateful for their honesty and professionalism. I left my engagement ring behind and only realised after boarding the Eurostar back to England. They helped arrange to send it back to me by post. We really enjoyed our stay, and I highly recommend this lovely place.

The outside doesn’t make a great first impression, but inside was surprisingly okay. We’d arrived very early after being refused entry to the UK because our dog’s worm tablet had been administered incorrectly, which meant we had to wait 24 hours. The receptionist on the desk on Saturday 23rd morning really made our day by making a special effort to help us. We had a fun day in dunkirk, and she was kind again when we left the next morning. Thank you to the lady in glasses at the front desk. 🙂

A comfortable, clean hotel in a good spot, with pleasant views and walks just outside. The food was good and offered a reasonable choice. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the male barman/waiter. I’d recommend it.

The location is the one real plus: it’s half an hour from the Eurotunnel, which works well for an early departure. Outside looks tired, but the reception is nicely done and the staff are friendly, so I expected more of the rooms. They’re small, basic, and worn, with poor soundproofing. I could hear corridor conversations, furniture being moved, and people walking around upstairs. French military personnel use the upstairs bedrooms and some of the ground floor for dining, which felt odd and wasn’t mentioned on the website. I don’t know if that’s temporary. We’ve stayed in much better hotels on this trip for 120 euros.
