The garden-loving hostess is lovely, and her cooking is pretty good too. We were shown to a comfortable, charming room that felt very homey, in a peaceful spot with beautiful surroundings. The hosts were warm and spoke several languages, and the rooms were roomy. It’s also well placed for exploring the Beaujolais area, with reasonable prices. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
The welcome was freezing, and breakfast was disgusting. The rooms had fleas and other vermin, and cleanliness was nowhere to be found. The castle itself is dilapidated, with very old furniture and upkeep that seems to have stopped along with time. It shouldn’t be considered a viable hotel anymore. Avoid it! Brrr!
The castle grounds and setting are magnificent, but I didn’t go inside the castle.
The accommodations are beautiful, though the amenities are just average.
