Le Chalet du Soulor

After relaxing in the outdoor hot jacuzzi, we went inside to a cozy living room, where Valerie had lit the fireplace. She also had a great range of wines and craft local beers to choose from, followed by delicious soup, a homemade meal, and dessert. The place is beautiful, spotless, and has breathtaking views. Valerie made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Thanks, Valerie, we’ll be back.

We were there for stage 12 of the 2025 Tour de France on the Cul du Soulor, and the views were out of this world. Valerie made the stay feel magical, and her meals were generous and amazing. It was a perfect place to stay, and we’re already counting the days until we can visit Valerie and La Chalet du Soulor again.

Even with the rain, we were glad we happened on this place. We’d booked at the last minute, but the simple room was wonderfully clean and cozy, and the staff made us feel at home straight away. The mountains outside gave everything a calm, peaceful feel. And the lasagne at dinner was the best we’ve ever had, a meal we’ll remember for a long time. A spontaneous find that left us with lovely memories.

Valerie runs a first rate gite, with a warm welcome, good food, and wine. The col is a great spot for cyclists, though it’s a little way from the GR10 route. We were there with a French cycling group from Bearn, which made the evening more entertaining. Well worth a stay if you’re in the area.
