The room was enormous, with a king bed and a separate futon room for our daughter. The bed was comfortable, and we had lovely garden views. Staff were friendly, and breakfast was small but fresh. We were there in the off season, so I imagine there may be more choice when more guests are staying. The one thing I didn’t love was the smell in our room, especially where our daughter slept. It seemed to be above the kitchen, and that part smelled like croutons baking. The old chateau setting was charming, complete with a real moat and waterfowl.

The atmosphere was peaceful, and the spacious room had beautiful views and tasteful decor. It felt like a lovely, romantic hotel with a luxurious touch. We had a very relaxing stay at Le Château d’Aubry.

The people were so kind, and the chateau itself is magnificent. Our room was gorgeous and the hotel was very clean. I’d gladly recommend it.

We found it easy to get into the city centre, with bus line 1 running from Place Aubry, and the hotel is about 5km from Valenciennes train station. There’s a large shared area upstairs with a pool table and table football. The rooms are bright and spacious, and the staff were friendly and spoke English. The old castle has been beautifully renovated, with a water moat and a huge garden, and splendid French haute cuisine is available. My only gripe was the simple blanket with a white sheet between it and you. A proper duvet would have been better.

Great place to stay, and the owners are very nice and accommodating. I think I’ve slept in most of the rooms by now, though a few are a little small.
