Le Parfum des Collines

It’s been over a year since our stay, but Le Parfum des Collines still comes up often when my partner and I talk about holidays. We’re hoping to return soon, as we haven’t found anywhere better. We went for a relaxing weekend to switch off, and it worked. The setting at this charming residence was exceptional, and the room was magnificent, just as described online, with excellent bedding. The welcome was excellent and the staff attentive. My partner was pregnant then, and they accommodated our menu and service requests, including a prenatal massage.

We understood the hint that our presence was no longer wanted. After checking out at 11:30 am, we thought we could stay and enjoy the grounds, but at 1:00 pm we were promptly asked to give back the lounge chairs, then the towels, because other guests wanted the shade. The setting itself was lovely, but this misunderstanding made for an unpleasant situation. For this price, the service should match the luxury. There was no parasol, and no bottle of chilled water in the room either. That’s unacceptable at this price point.

The location and room were superb. Breakfast was only available if you asked, though the hosts never offered it. If you didn’t know what was available, you wouldn’t ask, and breakfast ended up being toast and jam with mini pastries. The welcome could’ve been warmer too. This hotel illegally restricts, or even excludes, families with children, which is discrimination in itself. We’ve alerted the relevant authorities and our consumer association. It’s regrettable that a hotel aiming for such a high standard would engage in these practices.
