Chez Isabelle

Isabelle was kind to us, and I want to acknowledge that. But the house, "Chez Isabelle", was a disaster. I don't usually leave bad reviews. I'm writing this to describe what it was like on August 7, 2025, especially for anyone thinking of booking for just one night. If we'd been able to cancel when we arrived, we would have left without looking inside. The rooms are in the basement, reached through a garage full of dusty junk and spiders. An old carpet had been laid over the gravel. The two rooms had old furniture we couldn't even touch, and their creaky doors would probably wake the people next door at night. None of the doors had working locks or latches. Our room door wouldn't lock and was left open, and the garage door was open too. The bathroom sits between the rooms and opens directly into both through sliding doors with no locks. You could walk in while someone from the other room was using it, and they could do the same to you. Isabelle showed it to us as a shared bathroom for showers and the sink, but said we had to use a toilet in the garage. It was dirty and full of spiders. Other guests used the bathroom too, and their dog left a strong smell. They'd showered it there, leaving water and hair in the shower tray. There was no enclosed parking. Our motorcycles were left outside on the gravel ramp to the garage, unprotected and accessible to anyone. They could get rained on or sit in the sun all day. The ramp was also quite dangerous for someone with little motorbike experience or a heavy bike. The outside of the house was neglected, with weeds everywhere and no sign of cleaning or maintenance. From the moment we arrived, it wasn't what we'd expected. We skipped breakfast because we just wanted to get out, and didn't want to imagine what the kitchen was like. I can't understand how the place is allowed to stay open in these conditions. If it ever gets a health inspection, I'm sure it would be closed straight away. Don't go near it.
