I had a great weekend here, even though the WiFi was spotty. The hotel has a charming feel, and the family suite was amazing and well worth it. I'm not sure why some reviews are mediocre. You're in a small town in rural France, so enjoy it!

The place looks nice from outside, but inside it was expensive and dirty, and the staff had an attitude. We chose it after poorly picking Autun for day trips around the Morvan, partly because the ivy-covered wall in the photos appealed to us. It's a former monastery that could be a great hotel with the right management, but its current state is saddening. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Our first room, advertised as a “superior room,” had broken furniture, so after complaining we were given a free upgrade to one of the “suites.” That made the stay more bearable, though it was in a second wing with no elevator. The suite itself was okay, but terribly dirty again, with damaged furniture and paper-thin walls. We could hear everything from the neighbors. The bed was at least cleanish, and it wasn't too loud on the third floor. Normally, these suites would cost €200 a night. We didn't try the kitchen after seeing the rooms, so I can't comment on it. The rooms are tiny, and the smell of the kitchen hung around the narrow hallways and rooms. The garage was very narrow and poorly lit, with staff smoking there, dead insects and rat droppings. Parking cost €7 a night, despite being advertised as free. This doesn't compare to a four-star hotel internationally.

The town is definitely cute, and the location was good. The entrance felt like a hospital, though, and the decor really needs updating. The courtyard could be nice if they kept the grass alive and added more shade. Getting to the second floor was odd, and the door was extremely heavy to open. Would I return? No. Was it horrible? No.

We rarely write long reviews, but Les Ursilines in Autun deserves one. Our Burgundy holiday was perfect, and the hotel played a big part. The staff were especially friendly and helpful, and Franck, the patissier, prepared an amazing breakfast and was always around to check everything was as we wanted. The hotel is in central, picturesque Autun, with underground parking available. It occupies an old nun convent, and the panoramic garden has amazing views across the Morvan. We had an unforgettable trip, highly recommend it, and are already thinking about coming back one day. Jasper and Esra

We found the hotel quite expensive for what it offers. I don't think there's a better option in Autun, but I wouldn't return. The building is old, though it has a nice garden, and the staff were friendly. Our room had dated decor, an old, dirty carpet, and ceiling repairs that hadn't been finished properly. The bed was large, but the mattress was horrible.
