Le Chevalier Noir

On our way to Spain, we stayed here for one night and got such a warm welcome. The half-board option worked perfectly, and Freya, our private chef, made absolutely delicious meals. We slept well in a very comfortable bed, and our two small dogs were made just as welcome as we were. Host Paul was friendly and accommodating, and made us feel right at home. Parking was easy with the street permit provided. The hilltop village is beautiful, and we wished we had longer to explore. We'll definitely come back for a longer stay.

The gite at Le Chevalier Noir was a lovely base for exploring Cordes, the surrounding Bastide villages, spectacular Albi, and lively Toulouse. Paul was a wonderfully helpful host. There’s plenty to do in this part of France, from relaxing by the pool to hiking, kayaking, or walking a couple of donkeys, apparently! We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would recommend it.

Cordes gave us plenty to enjoy, from cafes, artisan shops, gardens, and historic streets to a little train tour of the medieval town. Our children loved the nearby river's beautiful 'green beach', and we also had fun taking a self-drive boat out for a short cruise about 30 minutes away. At Le Chevalier Noir, French breakfasts and supper were delicious and unhurried, with local produce. Paul recommended trips and local spots that suited our family, including a wonderful tea room and microbrewery in town, plus a yoga class for me. We spent a week as a family of five in the gite, with spotless rooms, blue shutters, pretty terraces, and a pool surrounded by gorgeous countryside views. There was lots of space to unwind and enjoy the warm weather. Parking was easy, and Paul made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The whole booking, from first contact, was welcoming and professional, with excellent communication. We stopped in Blois on Paul's recommendation on our way through France, and it was a perfect road-trip break. This was our first family holiday abroad, and it couldn't have been more idyllic. Paul is one of the most caring, thoughtful hosts we've met. We soon felt like locals, and made a dear friend. We can't wait to return, meet Daniel, and enjoy more of LCN and the area.

Paul was such a warm, helpful, and welcoming host. I loved spending time in the courtyard, and the grounds were lovely too. My room was comfortable, with a beautiful view of the peaceful countryside. The location was just right for relaxing in a quiet, secluded spot while still being convenient for getting around. It was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some much-needed peace. I hope to visit again.
