A clean, very nice room in a great location. Maya was welcoming and helpful. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished, and the landlady speaks excellent English and is glad to help with questions or requests. There’s no need to know French. The location inside Avignon’s city walls is handy, with all the sights within easy walking distance. It’s also very quiet, since there aren’t restaurants or cafes right nearby. The charming Rue des Teintiers is only 200 meters away for a meal or drink. Parking takes some planning: there’s free parking outside the building on Sundays and from 7 pm to 9 am. At other times, look just beyond the city walls. Inside the walls, parking costs €35 after four hours.
The room itself was spacious, lovely and romantic, with nice decor, a comfortable bed, a walk-in shower and double glazing. There’s no TV, and they do leave half a bottle of water when you arrive. Rue des Teinturiers is close by. Breakfast was very basic, served to everyone at the same time, 9:00 AM, around a communal table. When I complained, I was told to wait until 9:15 AM. Rooms have to be cleared by 10:30 AM for cleaning. On departure day, I had to negotiate to leave my luggage there, and they sent me to the train station’s left luggage facility without any qualms. At 10:45 AM the owner knocked to tell me to leave. During the Festival, from July 12th to 16th, 2016, the room cost €150. The welcome felt falsely warm, and the whole stay was run like a military operation.
