Central Hotel

The location was the best part of my stay. I was there for a couple of days, but my room looked nothing like the ones shown on the website, and I could barely check in at 3 pm. There was mold in the bathroom. The front desk staff could have been nicer. This was my third hotel in France, and the worst.

The room was clean and a good size, and the courtyard it faced was pretty and kept the noise down when we had to sleep with the windows open. The air conditioning and heat pump were weak. It's a great location close to the train station, and there's a small cocktail bar attached to the hotel. The front desk staff were polite, though they seemed a little uninterested.

I couldn't make it because of a train accident in which someone died. Booking.com asked the hotel to consider a refund or rebooking, but they wouldn't do either. That was unkind, and there was no need to handle it that way.

We contacted the hotel a full month before check-in to ask if it would consider a partial refund. We were traveling from Asia and had to cancel our Europe trip because of war-related safety concerns and flight route risks. We could neither transit through Dubai nor take direct flights over conflict airspace. The hotel refused any refund or flexibility and kept repeating that our reservation was non-refundable. Even with so much notice, there was no empathy or willingness to help us deal with the unexpected circumstances. It was an extremely disappointing experience. If your plans could change or you may face unexpected problems, I'd strongly recommend choosing accommodation with more flexible, customer-friendly policies.
