Les Bruyères

Seeing the Milky Way again after so long was a highlight. Les Bruyères sits among woods and meadows, with no light pollution to get in the way of stargazing. We stayed as a family for 13 days, an unusual length of time for a bed and breakfast that offers dinner as an option, and it gave us a real feel for this little slice of paradise. Stéphanie and Matthieu are lovely hosts who make you feel at home, and they're excellent cooks too. The mood is warm and family-friendly, with a bit of a bohemian feel, even though the services are good. This isn't a luxury American-style resort. It's a beautiful, spacious house, tastefully restored, and the rooms show that care in their decor. There are rooms with four beds, so it works especially well for a stop with children. The place has me wanting to return.

The food was delicious, and the hosts were attentive, kind, and there for both the adults and the children. We felt incredibly warmly welcomed in this exceptional spot in the heart of the Sologne region. We'll be back as soon as we can!

The quiet setting and comfortable beds were the good parts. The pool was dirty and the windows were broken, among other problems, so the stay felt like poor value for money. Disappointing, especially since the host described it as "a bit of a mess." oul

Nature gives this beautiful place its charm, and there's comfort here too.
