Sandrine made our Christmas visit feel very welcoming. She speaks English, put together a hearty continental breakfast with fresh fruit, juice, and breads, and happily shared her affection for the city along with ideas for places to see and eat. When our plans changed and we needed to stay through Christmas Eve morning, even though the hotel was meant to be closed, she accommodated us. Thanks again, Sandrine. We’d love to return. Hotel Le Colbert is tucked inside the old City walls, just behind Square Agricol Perdiguier, the Church of Saint Martial, and the tourism office. It’s about a five-minute walk from the train station, and the setting is ideal for exploring the old City. This is a quaint four-story place on a very quiet street linking Rue de la Republique, the route toward the city center and Papal Palace, with the square of Chapelle Saint-Michael. Our second-floor room was comfortable, clean, and well appointed. The towels were fluffy and the water hot. We spent four days there over the Christmas holiday and couldn’t have found a better hotel for our Avignon visit.

The only drawback is that there’s no lift. Otherwise, the rooms are a good size and the beds are comfortable, and the hosts are warm and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, and the happy hour drinks are good value. A lovely hotel in a great spot for exploring Avignon.

A charming family-run hotel, with thoughtful touches and a lovely host. My wife said it was the cleanest hotel she’s ever stayed in. It also makes a great base for exploring Provence. There’s no elevator, so it may not suit anyone with mobility issues. If you just need a simple place for a few days, I’d absolutely recommend it.

It’s a great base for seeing Avignon, inside the city walls and close to both the train station and main bus terminal. A wonderful place to stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Le Colbert. The hotel has a fantastic art collection on display throughout, and its location is both peaceful and close to the city center and train station. Our host was so friendly and helpful, and a happy dog came to greet us each morning at breakfast.
