The counter restaurants are amazing, and you can really taste the effort and passion in the food. Gorgeous French produce and flavors from the south of France, all in one place. We went around 1130, ordered smoked salmon and a nice glass of French wine, and loved the atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.
A lovely, authentic market in Avignon. We’ve seen a couple of markets dans la sud de France that felt a bit manufactured, but this one was a pleasure. I think the trick is to seek out the ones that close at 1400. The ones open later can feel a bit formulaic. Anyway, enough talking. Here are a few pics.
The market was very nice, and there’s a wonderful museum nearby that’s a must-see. Avignon is a beautiful city with lots of culture and a well-preserved Popes Palace.
Incredible gardens and historic sites. The walk from Avignon was easy and enjoyable, with plenty of chances to stop for food and drinks.
An experience in itself! There’s fresh produce from Avignon and Provence to explore, great for little gifts or picking up local food for a picnic and a taste of the region.
