My rental car broke down during the trip, and with the language barrier I had a hard time communicating. I was in a really difficult spot, but the hotel staff stepped in and helped as if it were their own problem. Their kindness and dedication touched me deeply. With their help, everything got sorted out smoothly and I could enjoy the rest of my trip. I’m very grateful to all the staff, wish the hotel continued success, and will definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Avignon.

The hotel is right by a square near the popes palace, in a tourist area with lots of shipping and delightful resturants. Some rooms take seven steps to reach. The staff were nice and carried our heavy suitcases. Keep in mind that Avignon has many streets that are difficult for handicapped visitors, with cobblestones and narrow streets and sidewalks.

Hôtel de l’Horloge left us extremely disappointed. We had to cancel 1.5 days ahead because of circumstances beyond our control: our rental car was unexpectedly cancelled, trains were fully booked, and we were stranded with our 7-month-old baby. I contacted the hotel right away, explained what had happened, and asked for some flexibility since this was only a short stopover on our way to a wedding. With no tickets available via Avignon, we had to take another route. The hotel replied two days later, and by then it was clear they had chosen profit over compassion. Booking.com understood that things like this can happen, especially when traveling with a small baby, and refunded our car rental. Hôtel de l’Horloge chose greed.

We had a room facing the square, and it was pretty and quiet thanks to the excellent air conditioning. The beds were perfect for me, with a medium-firm, supportive mattress. Breakfast was high quality, better than at some 5 star hotels. The warm, rich pain au chocolat was a particular favorite. Staff were friendly and made an effort with guests from all over the world.
