This was two years ago, and a photo of my meal brought it back to mind. I didn't stay at the hotel, but I had dinner there and got horribly sick from the tuna steak. It tasted odd, so I stopped after a few bites, which I'm grateful for, because the food poisoning was still horrendous. My parents ate different dishes and were completely fine. The tuna was obviously bad. I hope they've made changes since then. I wanted to share so this doesn't happen to someone else. Don't order the tuna.

If you want a modern building and don't mind a couple of squeaky floorboards, look elsewhere. Hôtel de la Croix d’Or is an older, quality place with a lovely atmosphere and excellent service. It seems to be made up of several old houses, and the old-world charm is delightful. The staff were first class, and the bar had a great selection, especially if you're into whisky. I didn't have dinner there, but breakfast was very good. There was plenty of parking, including a covered spot for my bike.

After cycling La Regalante, I stopped here for one night on the drive from Nantes back to Cherbourg. The room was good, supper was very good, and it's a very good hotel. Recommended.

The meal was the highlight of my whole trip to France. They had a great selection of starters, entrees, and desserts, and the food was superb. The hotel setting was elegant and beautiful, yet the three-course meal cost only 29 euro, really inexpensive for the value. Such an amazing restaurant in this little town. I'd give it Michelin stars.

We were glad to find it open on a Sunday, when most other places were closed. The restaurant was amazing, and the prices were very reasonable, especially the three-course options. The dessert was so good. I'd definitely recommend it.
