Résidence Lagrange Vacances Les Chalets d'Ax

We had a nice location and a great room, but the fold-out sofa was back-wrenching. The staff didn’t seem to care much about their guests. Apparently youth party tours get a more promising experience, since they were allowed to party until 2 am and we had to put up with not sleeping until then. The jacuzzi was colder than most beaches I’ve been to, so we had to pay top dollar in town for a jacuzzi and sauna. Wouldn’t recommend this place.

I liked the place, and the staff were cool and helpful, so four stars. The balcony is big, but the living room is cluttered, and the room for six was tiny: two in a double bed, two on the sofa, and two on bunk beds. The bunks are in the entrance with no door separating the kids’ area, so going to the toilet at night wakes them up. There was no swimming pool during COVID.

The apartment was clean and we slept really well. The place is calm, though a little out of the way, and walking is easy; there’s also a little train or bus shuttle to the nearest ski lift. Some walls need attention. The sauna, hammam, and jacuzzi weren’t really a plus for us: poorly organised, not hot enough, or not working. Hopefully that improves, as it was a letdown. Parking is plentiful but the spaces are tight. There’s no free WiFi and no international TV. Still, it’s a lovely place to stay in Ax, and we’d consider coming back.

We stayed last week, and they’re still holding our €300 deposit without any reason. Even at the front desk, they told us it would be returned immediately at checkout. We’re still waiting for our money.
